No visit to Naxos would be complete without discovering the island’s traditional citron liqueur. This guided distillery experience invites you to step back in time, learn the secrets of distillation and taste some of the most characteristic flavours of Naxos.
The tour begins in the courtyard next to the beautiful garden of the Prompona Distillery. There, you will have the opportunity to taste local citrus products and liqueurs, together with a selection of appetisers and traditional treats.
During the tasting, you may enjoy different kinds of citrus fruit, traditional Naxian marzipan covered in smooth dark chocolate, citron-flavoured halvadopita and dried citrus fruit. Naxian ouzo can also be served with olives, bread sticks, a different kind of ntakos and a wide variety of fruit preserves.
For guests who enjoy traditional local flavours, rakomelo and citron-flavoured raki may also be offered, accompanied by Naxian figs and nuts.
Both the guided tour and the citron tasting last approximately 60 minutes. Transfer is not included, and availability should always be confirmed in advance.
