The tour begins with a walk through the Venetian Castle of Naxos. You will enter the old castle area, visit the Ursuline School, walk towards the famous “1739” cafeteria located on the terrace of the school’s former dormitories and enjoy the magnificent view. You will also see the Commercial School and continue towards the Catholic Cathedral.
As you walk through the maze of medieval alleys, you will feel as if you have stepped into another era. The castle walk ends through Trani Porta, the historic unconquered gate of the old settlement.
The next stop is a candy workshop in the old market area. Children and parents will be amazed by the candy-making process, the colors and the flavors. Of course, there will also be the chance to try some of the candies.
The walk continues through the old market and reaches a citron distillery shop. Parents can taste the unique Naxian citron liqueur, while children can try Naxian loukoumi or citron fruit.
Afterwards, your air-conditioned coach or minibus will pick you up and take you to an organic farm with animals such as sheep, goats, ducks and chickens. There, the whole family can experience a taste of farm life in Naxos.
Depending on your wishes, there is the option to spend more time at the farm, pick vegetables and cook with the farm’s owner in a wood-fired oven. This activity is available with an extra charge. Alternatively, after the farm visit, you can continue to a nearby beach, where the family can swim, enjoy watersports or have lunch at a seaside tavern.
